Boko Haram, the cultlike Nigerian group that carried out the kidnappings, was rejected long ago by mainstream Muslim scholars and Islamist parties around the world for its seemingly senseless cruelty and capricious violence against civilians. But this week its stunning abduction appeared too much even for fellow militants normally eager to condone terrorist acts against the West and its allies.

US Military Officials Arrive Nigeria, Says Abducted Chibok Schoolgirls May Have Been Trafficked

The seven man team will join a team already advising Nigeria on the search, said U.S. Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby, who serves as Pentagon press secretary.U.S. military officials arrived Nigeria on Friday, May 9, 2014 to help in the search for hundreds of girls kidnapped by Islamist militants, the Pentagon said.

Kirby has said that here are no plans to send American combat troops to Nigeria.

About 60 U.S. interagency members have been on the ground since before the kidnappings as part of counterterrorism efforts with Nigeria, a senior U.S. administration official told CNN.

They have been holding meetings, getting resources into the country and making assessments with local authorities.

“Our interagency team is hitting the ground in Nigeria now and they are going to be working … with President Goodluck Jonathan’s government to do everything that we possibly can to return these girls,” Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday.

Their tasks in the country are to establish a coordination cell to provide intelligence, carry out investigations and offer hostage negotiation expertise.

Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi, has released his 30-man provisional list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

The release was made after a meeting with the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Meanwhile the list came with lots of surprises as those who were sure of making the team were left out while players like Super Eagles captain  Joseph Yobo, who has not played for the national team for over a year was among the chosen ones.

Also Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie was also part of the Nigeria’s preliminary World Cup squad on Tuesday.

However the list will be reduced after series of friendly games to a final 23 men squad who will be going to Brazil,starting with the match against Scotland on May 28.

Bring Back Our Girls – President Jonathan Orders Service Chiefs At High-Level Meeting (DETAILS)

Jonathan gave the directive at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today during a high-level meeting convened to review the security situation in the country.President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the service chiefs to intensify efforts towards rescuing all the abducted schoolgirls of Chibok, Borno State.

The meeting, which lasted for about seven hours, was in the wake of Thursday’s bombing at Nyanya, Abuja and the kidnapping by suspected terrorists, of over 200 girls of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, on April 15.

Briefing State House journalists after the meeting, Information Minister Labaran Maku said the meeting received updates on the second Nyanya bombing, the ongoing search for the Chibok girls and efforts made so far to deal with related incidents of insecurity and terrorism in the country.

The minister stressed that during the closed door meeting, the president had directed the security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted girls.

According to him, Jonathan assures Nigerians that “wherever the girls are in the world, we will get them back, apprehend and punish the culprits”.

He said in view of the inconsistent and contradictory information available to the government on the girls’ abduction, the president had set up a fact-finding committee comprising security agencies, civil society, international organisations and other stakeholders.

Federal Court Says Reps Lied, No Court Order Restraining Probe Of Alison Madueke, NNPC

The announcement by the House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Monday that it could not proceed with the probe into alleged N10 billion expended by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on the lease of private aircraft for the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, owing to a court injunction, has been dismissed as an outright lie by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Taking the lawmakers to task, the court yesterday in Abuja summoned the House of Representatives to come and show it the purported order which stopped it from going ahead with the probe.

THISDAY had correctly reported yesterday that the court had rejected the request by the minister and NNPC seeking an interim injunction stopping the House from its investigation.

In the alternative, the plaintiffs had asked the court for an order of status quo, directing the parties to maintain the current position as at the date of filing the suit.

Instead of granting their request, the court had on April 14 directed the House of Representatives to appear before it to show cause why the interim orders being sought should not be granted.

However, at the resumed sitting on the suit yesterday, a visibly exasperated Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed said he was embarrassed when he woke up on Monday night and saw a barrage of headlines claiming that he granted an order restraining the House’s committee from going ahead with the probe.

A Covenant University simply identified as Bisi had a video of her twerking nude released online recently. In the video, Bisi is in her university dorm room strutting around naked. There are two other ladies (though fully clothed) and they are all playing songs from what seems to be a laptop with the webcam on. One of the other ladies even pulled off a few dance moves but obviously Bisi was the star of the video dancing the most plus being in the nude.

One of the girl in the videos MhiZ Jacklyn (@_Jackine) on Twitter is allegedly the owner of the laptop from which the video leaked. She tweeted that she did not intend to release the video but deleted it and a male friend stumbled on it in the recycle bin and released it.

As expected, Bisi has now been expelled from the highly conservative university.

Girl gets stuck trying to rescue her iPhone from down the drain has to be rescued by firemen

A teenager found herself up to her neck in trouble yesterday when she got stuck while trying to retrieve her mobile phone from a drain.

Ella-Anne Birchenough, 16, dropped her phone down the drain near her home in Dover, Kent.

Finding herself jammed into the drain, emergency services had to be called but, luckily, it was a quick rescue.

The teenager became caught in the storm drain in an attempt to retrieve her phone, that has since between described as 'ruined'
