Chris Brown 'extends his stay' in rehab despite completing court-ordered term as he announces release date of new album

Chris Brown is said to be 'extending his stay' in rehab.
Despite the fact he recently completed his court-ordered 90 days treatment for anger management issues, it has been reported that the 24-year-old R&B star has decided to prolong his stay.
'It was his choice,' a source close to the musician told E! News.  'He will come out soon.'
Getting better: Chris Brown, 24, is said to be extending his stay in rehab, although he was allowed out to receive an award from community charity 2nd Call in LA on Friday night
In October, Brown was accused of assaulting Parker Adams, who is suing the rapper and one of his bodyguards for $3m, which violated his probation, stemming from a violent assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
At the time, the Turn Up The Music singer voluntarily checked himself into rehab in Malibu, California in October but was kicked out after throwing a rock through his mother Joyce's car window.
He was then ordered to seek anger management at a different facility instead of being sentenced to jail.

Chris and his bodyguard's criminal trials are set to begin on April 17.

Presumably tweeting from the treatment center, Brown took the opportunity on Saturday to announce the release date of his upcoming album, X.
'X is by far my best album yet.... Setting the date for MAY 5,' he wrote.
He also included a black and white shot of himself, in which he can be seem staring to his right, smoking billowing from his mouth, the image covered by a large red cross.

The hitmaker has been granted permission to leave rehab to attend several events recently, including a celebration to honour his work with LA community group 2nd Call on Friday night.
A source said he stayed for more than two hours, appeared to be in 'good spirits' and warmly greeted people who came to his table.
Sharing an Instagram snap of himself smiling with friends, Brown wrote: '2nd Call honors tonight.. Really inspiring!'

He thanked the community organisation for the Second Chance For Loving Life Award, saying: 'Thank you 2nd Call for this amazing award tonight!'
He also posted a snap of the award, which was inscribed to Chris M. Brown for being 'an avenue of hope reconnecting 2nd Call participants to motivate themselves to change.'
A second source told E! News that he arrived at the event at around 7pm, wearing a white cardigan over a dress shirt, with a green skinny tie, dark jeans and black shoes.
After making a short speech as he accepted his awards, Chris apparently left the event at 9:30pm
