Oscars golden girl Lupita Nyong'o was looking a little worse for wear as she arrived back at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre the morning after her historic win.
The Best Supporting Actress winner admitted she hadn't yet had a chance to sleep as she joined Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan onstage to relive her career-changing moment as Live With Kelly
& Michael filmed from the West Coast as part of their annual post-Oscars wrap.
She may have looked exhausted as she arrived for the interview clad in jeans, canvas boat shoes and a navy blue jacket with a male friend, who held on tight to her gold statue, but by the time she was broadcast live across the country, Lupita was looking nothing less than the superstar she is.
The 12 Years A Slave star showed off her enviable figure in the three-piece ensemble, featuring
a mini-skirt, top with white silk neck detail and three-quarter sleeve blazer, teamed with gunmetal stilettos.
Her make-up was beautifully applied and natural, with a deep rusty red on her lips, her cropped mane worn in a simple coiffed style.
'[The win] hasn't set in. I haven't even slept!' she excitedly told the audience. 'It is overwhelming, but at the same time, this is the thing I dreamed for, it's the thing that I availed myself for. I'm just trying
to allow myself to absorb it all.'
While Lupita did let Michael hold her pride and joy briefly - 'For three seconds!' - she revealed that she was very protective over the new little man in her life, who joins a number of new additions to her mantlepiece of late, of which she laughed, 'I really have to get a two-bedroom apartment' to house them all.
'For the first half of the night, I was very selfish - I wouldn't even let people take a picture of it,' she laughed. 'But then I lightened up.'
The grounded star went on to give a belated shoutout to her management team, whom she forgot to thank during the overwhelming haze of her acceptance speech.
Interestingly, while the star has gushed over director Steve McQueen and was quick to thank him onstage, she failed to specifically thank Brad Pitt, whose production company Plan B Entertainment backed the project and without whom it may never have been made.
Speaking of her acceptance speech, which was delivered with the utmost poise and eloquence the actress has come to be synonymous with, she said she didn't 'want to spend too much time' monopolising the stage.
'Everything I wrote was from my heart,' she said of the message that included the sentiment: 'When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from your dreams are valid.'
