Ain't 42.5million pounds TOO much for a German who can't score a penalty? As Ozil misses 3rd penalty in a row

#askaroundnow
Mesut Ozil missed his third penalty in a row at club level during Arsenal's Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
The Germany international stepped up after being upended by Jerome Boateng in the area but saw his spot-kick saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the Bavarians' net.
It probably didn’t help that Neuer was friends with Ozil at school, so maybe he saved the playground penalties, too.

The midfielder, who signed for Arsenal in a £42.5million deal from Real Madrid last summer, hasn't been hugely successful from 12 yards out in the past.
The latest miss comes after he failed to score from the spot against Marseille for Arsene Wenger's side earlier this season and, having never taken a penalty during his three years at the Bernabeu, Ozil's other blunder came as he failed to score for Werder Bremen against Borussia Monchengladbach in 2009.
It's well-known Germany rule when it comes to penalty shoot-outs after many successes over the years but it seems Ozil doesn't have the same knack, or nerve, from the spot as his compatriots.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger commented after the game: 'I prefer people to run properly at the ball.
'Everyone has his own style and you have to respect it. There's not one way of penalty taking, if he's comfortable taking it like that... It's his style.'
Having enjoyed a bright start to his career at the Emirates, Ozil's contribution is fading fast. The 25-year-old has failed to score in his last 13 appearances and has just three assists in his previous 15 matches.

Preference: Arsene Wenger would have preferred Ozil to have taken a proper run-up before hitting his penalty

However, Ozil wasn't the only player guilty of missing a golden opportunity from the spot during Wednesday's encounter.
The Bundesliga champions were also awarded a penalty five minutes before half-time after Wojciech Szczesny was adjudged to have brought down Arjen Robben and was subsequently sent off.
With goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski replacing Santi Cazorla following Szczesny's dismissal, left back David Alaba looked confident he would put the away side ahead.
However, the Austria international also missed, dragging his penalty wide of Fabianski's right-hand post (Alaba has scored just one of his three penalties too!).
Luckily for Alaba, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller scored in the second-half to hand Bayern a 2-0 lead going into the second leg.
