David Beckham confirms plans to build a 'global team' after buying Major League Soccer franchise in Miami

David Beckham has been confirmed as the owner of a new Miami-based MLS franchise.
The former England captain appeared at a press conference this afternoon and made the announcement.
Reports suggest he will raid the Premier League for his players and Beckham is thought to already be looking at who will manage the side.
However, Golden Balls remained tight-lipped on any recruits and insisted he won't be making an approach to former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
He said: "This is an exciting time for myself, my family, my friends and partners, and it is something we are really looking forward to bringing to Miami.
"We are going to make a soccer club that is going to be loved by millions of people - we plan on bringing a team that is not just for Miami but is a global team.
"Sir Alex is a great manager and gave me the chance to play for my boyhood dream club, but unfortunately he has retired so we won't pull him out of retirement, I think he is enjoying that."
Beckham and his group are now in talks with local government with regards to building a stadium and insists public funding is not needed.
The 38-year-old added: "We don't want public money, we will fund ourselves, it is something that we have worked very hard on.
"Nothing successful in life is easy, there are going to be bumps along the way and you have to go through certain tough times to come out at the end being successful."
