It's the biggest night in the British showbiz calendar.
But the red carpet at the 2014 EE BAFTA Awards was something of a subdued affair on Sunday night, with stars including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Uma Thurman and Amy Adams all opting for various shades of black.
One person who decided to mix things up, however, and inject a much-needed bolt of colour to the event was Lupita Nyong'o, who wowed in a striking emerald green silk fishtail-hem gown by Christian Dior.

Subdued: Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett and Uma Thurman all opted for simple black gowns on the red carpet for the awards
His and hers: The only thing distinguishing Brad
Pitt from Angelina Jolie was an unbuttoned collar as the couple arrived
on the red carpet at the 2014 EE BAFTAs in matching black suits on
Sunday night
Keeping her accessories to a minimum with gold cuffs and matching hoop earrings, the actress completed her red carpet ensemble with sexy smoky eye make-up and ruby red lips.
Lupita was accompanied by her mother Dorothy, who also wore a colourful ensemble, to the prestigious awards.
Green with envy: The 12 Years A Slave actress
undeniably brought some welcome glitz and glamour to an otherwise rather
muted red carpet
Rocking the red carpet: Lupita's dazzling gown featured a gold band around the waist which accentuated her enviably slim middle
Green goddess: Looking utterly radiant as she
smouldered in front of the camera, the talented 12 Years A Slave star's
simple, yet elegant, strapless frock featured a gold band around the
middle to accentuate her slim waist
Mum's the word: Lupita ensured her mother Dorothy was by her side for her big red carpet moment
Sweeping down the red carpet: Lupita's dress featured a dramatic, long train
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie opted for matching black suits as they attended the event, with only an unbuttoned collar distinguishing the stunning actress from her heartthrob husband.
Angelina, 38, locked arms with her handsome 50-year-old husband, part of the cast of BAFTAs Best Film 12 Years A Slave, while sporting an open-buttoned collar and loose bow tie as they joined a star-studded crowd at London's Royal Opera House.

Following close behind was nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, who has received a Best Actor nod for his role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, with the star spending plenty of time interacting with his fans and signing autographs as he headed inside the Opera House.
Even A-listers have wardrobe malfunctions:
Angelina adjusted Brad's bow-tie in a touching display of affection away
from the eyes of the photographers
Smitten kittens: The loved-up couple giggled
away as they ensured they were looking perfect before heading out into
the glare of the world's spotlight
Showbiz pals: Angelina was later spotted chatting to chat show host and The Butler star Oprah Winfrey on the red carpet
Fancy seeing you here! Oprah and Angelina shared a joke as they meandered down the red carpet, while Brad looked on adoringly
But it was their unusual, matching ensembles which was stealing the limelight ahead of the awards announcements on Sunday evening.
And it seems that black was the colour of choice for most of the attendees, with both men and women opting to play it safe rather than stand out from the crowd.
While on the red carpet, the pair looked adorable when Angelina was spotted fixing Brad's bow tie to ensure he was well and truly dressed to impress for the most important night in the British film industry's calendar.
Man, I feel like a woman: The LA-born actress
teamed her look with a black blazer, a pair of loose black trousers and
black stiletto heels
Devoted: Angelina made sure she had plenty of
time to sign autographs and take photographs with her loyal army of fans
before heading inside
