Miley Cyrus is a passionate animal rights activist and now, her little sister, Noah Cyrus is following her lead. 13-year-old Noah is working with PETA Kids in their campaign against animal abuse in circuses.
Noah is not about that circus life and she talks about this in her new PETA Kids
video:
“We all know how awful bullies are, and circuses bully animals every day," Noah says. “Elephants used in circuses are forced to perform tricks by trainers who beat them and jab them with metal hooks.” She goes on about tigers: “They get whipped when they don't do exactly what the trainers want."
PETA reported that "In 2011, Ringling Bros. paid the largest fine in circus history — $270,000 — for violations of the Animal Welfare Act." On the flip side, Ringling Bros. has a FAQ on their site about animal care and state that they provide a healthy environment for all their animals.
Noah has written an open letter to Nashville’s School Board asking to ban school field trips to the circus. She wrote, "Circus performances are not educational and should never be offered to students. ... At Ringling, scared baby elephants are torn away from their mothers so that they can begin to be taught the painful and confusing tricks of a circus routine. They are beaten, slammed to the ground, shocked and yelled at.”
Animal welfare is no joke to the Cyrus fam, and this could be your opportunity to learn more about what goes on at circuses.
